How DrLocator Verifies Physician Profiles
DrLocator distinguishes between public directory profiles and claimed profiles that have completed human review. This makes it easier for patients and search systems to understand where information came from and what a verification badge means.
Public Provider Data
DrLocator may create an unclaimed directory profile using official NPPES Version 2 provider data. We do not guess missing email, website, availability, telehealth, or accessibility information.
Ownership Claim
A physician or authorized representative can request ownership of an existing profile. NPI matching helps prevent duplicate profiles and connects the request to the correct public provider record.
Human Review
DrLocator staff review submitted identifying and practice information using the documented verification workflow. A Verified badge is displayed only after the applicable review is completed.
Ongoing Corrections
Physicians, patients, and staff can report inaccurate information. Reports create a review task so the profile can be corrected, reverified, or deactivated when appropriate.
What the Verified Badge Means
A Verified badge means DrLocator reviewed the profile as part of its verification process at the time shown by the profile record. It does not guarantee that a physician remains active, that a license remains current, that insurance is accepted, or that appointment availability has not changed.
How Patients Can Protect Themselves
Confirm important information directly with the practice and insurer before scheduling. Use the report or suggest-edit tools on a physician profile if something appears incorrect. Do not share personal or medical information when a request feels suspicious or unsafe.

Understanding Profile Status
Does a Verified badge guarantee a current medical license?
No. The badge records that DrLocator completed its review at the time reflected by the profile. Patients should confirm current license status with the applicable state licensing authority.
What is an unclaimed physician profile?
An unclaimed profile is a public directory record that has not yet been claimed by the physician or an authorized practice representative. It may be based on official NPPES Version 2 public provider data.
Can a physician or patient report incorrect information?
Yes. Public profiles include reporting and edit-suggestion tools. A submission creates an internal review task so DrLocator staff can investigate the information.
